ANNIE DINERMAN: *LISTEN

No Time Like The Present (Christmas Duet)

(Nashville Demo)
April 13, 2011
Music and lyrics by Annie Dinerman and Adam Levy

Annie had this title in mind for at least three years, searching for the right collaborator.  When she met Adam Levy at the Huntington Folk Festival (Long Island, NY) in July 2010, they agreed they'd like to write together.  This song is their first co-write.  Because of Adam's touring and recording schedule, they first sat down to write the lyric in January 2011, and then wrote the music in February.  In March, Adam's rough demo and Annie's lead sheet were sent to Steve Cooper in Nashville to produce this fun demo.

THE SWEATER I BOUGHT YOU LAST CHRISTMAS.
THE SNOWSTORM THAT KEPT US INSIDE.
AND WHEN YOUR DOG ATE THE POINSETTIA,
WE LAUGHED ’TIL WE CRIED.

WHERE’S THAT SNOWMAN TIE YOU WORE?
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?
NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT,
NO PRESENT LIKE THE TIME WITH YOU.

REMEMBER US PLAYING WITH TINSEL,
RUNNING TOY TRAINS ON THE TRACK.
WRITING OUR LETTERS TO SANTA.
HE NEVER WROTE BACK.

GONE FOR GOOD, THE DAYS OF YORE.
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?
NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT,
NO PRESENT LIKE THE TIME WITH YOU.

WE OUGHT TO DO THIS MORE OFTEN.
THERE’S NO GREATER GIFT FOR ME.
CAN’T LET THESE DAYS SLIP AWAY NOW.
BEFORE LONG, WE’LL BE

SWEEPING CONFETTI OFF THE FLOOR.
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?
NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT,
NO PRESENT LIKE THE TIME WITH YOU.
